| Code of Conduct “We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit.”
Aristotle To Our Parents Introduction:Valley View strives to provide an educational environment that meets the needs of every student. It is understood that the middle school years are a time of great change for our children academically, physically, and socially. Likewise, these years are significant because they are an important time to guide children toward responsible practices as they approach adolescence. In order to provide our students with the best possible learning environment, it must be safe, courteous and free of distractions. The Student Code of Conduct has been developed to inform all students and parents of Valley View’s expectations regarding behaviors and conduct. Valley View students will follow these procedures during the school day and while attending after-school activities. As a parent, your support is paramount in helping our students understand the role that they play in creating a safe and courteous school. Our common goal continues to be that of providing an atmosphere for our students to achieve their academic potential while building ethical, responsible and respectful standards. The Student Code of Conduct is based on the guidelines enumerated by the Watchung Board Of Education (Policy 5131). Basic Principles of Positive Student Behavior:Students are expected to:
The broad principles listed above, provide the foundation for our entire Student Code of Conduct. These principles acknowledge that responsible students set high behavioral expectations and conduct themselves in such a manner as to respect each other’s right to receive an education in a safe, supportive, and respectful environment, free of fear and intimidation and respectful of property whether personal or school owned. We thank you for taking the time to review this document with your children. We believe that parents have a major impact on how students view their own behavior. It is important for your children to know that you too support the principles outlined in the Student Code of Conduct. We look forward to working together with you to help your child learn productive ways of interacting with their fellow students, teachers, and environment. Remember, working together, we can help your children develop their full potential and adopt positive behaviors that they can use for the rest of their lives. | |||||||||||
