Update from the Health Office:

5/4/2012

Allergy season is at its peak of the season right now! I have already seen so many different allergy symptoms,in all the children.

These symptoms can be very annoying to the students during the school day. Please start to medicate your child now, before symptoms worsen.  Bring in any medication that your child may require, such as eye drops, antihistamines, and nasal sprays. See below for over the counter medication form, physician signature is not required,

  1. Early intervention is the best way to reduce the annoying allergy symptoms. With the mild winter temperatures in many parts of the country, it has triggered an unusually early release of pollen from many different spieces of trees in our area.Allergist are predicting a longer and more intense season for allergery patients.

To avoid post-nasal drip, which causes symptom like sore throats and stomach aches:

1. Gargle with luke warm water and salt in the morning and evening.

2. Use a a nasal spray or netty pot to rinse nasal passages in the morning and especially in the evening. Hope this ideas help.

LYME DISESE ALERT :

Owing to several enviromental conditions, a warmer than usual winter and a decreased acorn crop, children and adults headed into the woods this spring in the northeastern states are at a higher risk than usual of coming down with lyme disease, according to researchers at the Cary Institute of Ecosystem Studies in Millbrook NY.

For prescription medication during school please down load the form on this page and have your physician fill it out. Parents should bring the form and medication to school.

If your child is sick, please call the main office and give the reason why your child is absent from school that day.

If your child is going to his/her doctor remember to have a sport physical filled out. Physicals must be submitted to the nurse's office annually in order to participate in a sport program at Valley View School. The form is a state form and the only one accepted by the school it is located at the end of the page and is labeled athletic physical, ( it is about 7-8 pages long).

Any questions or concerns about your child's health during the school year please do not hesitate to call or e-mail me. I am looking forward to a happy healthy year with all your children.
