It's time to persuade. Students are learning the format for composing a persuasive argument.  Each student will be required to compose a five paragraph argument which includes an introductory paragraph, three supporting detail paragraphs, and a concluding paragraph. Students are expected to incorporate all of the elements of fine writing they are familiar with, including figurative language, compositional risks, strong word choice, and voice.

Students are required to read four nights per week, twenty minutes per night. Record on the calendar the date, title, pages read, and time read. Parents must sign at the end of the week to verify a student's reading.  Weekly reading calendars are due each Monday. Calendars are collected at the end of the month and count as a grade.  Additional calendars are available for download at the bottom of this page.
