¡Bienvenidos!
Welcome to Spanish Class!
2011-2012
New languages and cultural experiences can take you all over the world ! I am looking forward, again, to teaching 6th, 7th and 8th grade Spanish classes at Valley View this year, and to seeing many familiar faces!
We will spend some time familiarizing ourselves with procedures and expectations during our initial days at school; 6th grade students will be using Exploring Spanish , while 7th and 8th grade students will use the Realidades collection.
Late Fall / Early Winter Topics:
6th Grade: The Spanish Alphabet, Numbers, Telling Time, "La Familia", Describing People and Objects.
PROJECT: 'My Family Coat of Arms'
7th Grade: Activities and Expressions for Saying What You Do and Do Not Like to Do; Describing Personalitites.
PROJECT: 'Baile y Mu sica del Mundo Hispano'
8th Grade: Foods and Healthy Lifestyles; How We Spend our Free Time; Describing Family Celebrations and Parties; Going to a Restaurant.
PROJECT : 'Restaurant Entrepreneurs'
Nota Importante : As students were clearly advised, the Dia de los Muertos Decorated Sugar Skulls are NOT EDIBLE !!!!!
Assignments: All students should be prepared to keep a binder section, or separate notebook, and a pocketed folder, exclusively for Spanish class. Students should bring textbooks, workbooks, paper and writing implements to class, always.
Details and descriptions of Homework Assignments, due dates, and grades received for assignments may be found on Powerschool/Gradebook. I will not be listing individual assignments on this website.
NOTICIAS:
Please encourage your children to spend some time, each week, listening to a Spanish radio station, or watching a Spanish television program. The Spanish daily newspaper, "EL PAIS" (Madrid), may be found on-line, with articles on many varied and current topics. Your children will be amazed at how much they can comprehend, when 'absorbing' Spanish using contextual clues, media, and 'real-life' language resources!!!
Feel free to contact me at: acohen@watchungschools.us, any time!
¡¡¡ Les deseo mucha felicidad durante los dias festivos que vienen, y un prospero a no nuevo, a todos!!!
