Parent pickup, Drop off, and absences

Preschool will continue to drop off and pick up at the lower lot with one change. Parents should drive further down and drop off closer to the gates. You will see cones to mark the new drop off location & staff members will be at the curb. Please do not block the bus driveway if you are waiting on line.

As we have done in the past, Parent Drop Off & Pick Up will take place outside the APR. If you are unable to immediately enter the upper driveway to the school, please proceed past the school, up the hill and turn around at the cul-de-sac at the top of Bayberry Lane. This will begin as usual at 8:30 AM.  

AM Drop Off

• 5 cars at a time will unload – pull up to the curb next to the marked cone.
• Students will now be expected to open the door themselves & unload as soon as you are next to the marked cone. Teachers will be monitoring & assisting our younger students where needed. 

How you can help expedite the process

• Encourage your child to get ready to unbuckle & have their backpack ready to go.

How you can keep the process safe

• Do not pass other cars on the Drop Off Line. Please be patient. It will take a few days before things are moving smoothly.
• Yield to buses entering the school driveway.

Temporary Early Drop Off:

Due to the lack of busing, we have established a temporary “Early Drop Off” to alleviate the hardship this may cause.   Once a child’s bus route becomes available, Early Drop Off will not be offered.

• Early Drop Off takes place from 8:00 AM – 8:20 AM.
• Parents should park and walk their child into the main entrance.  Your child will enter and walk to the library.  (Kindergarten & new students will be escorted).
• A certified teacher will be overseeing the Early Drop Off.
• If you arrive at school after 8:20 AM, please join the parent drop off line.

We will use a similar process for Parent Pick Up but have found, through experience, that we can load 3 cars faster than 4 or 5.  Here are the guidelines for Parent Pick Up:

• 3 cars pull up to the curb by a marked cone.
• Your child will exit the APR, open the car door and load themselves.
• Teacher(s) will be monitoring and will assist as needed.

How you can help expedite the process:

For this process to run efficiently, it is required for every car to have a Car Tag or home made sign clearly displaying:

• Student(s) First & Last Name(s) & Grade
• Hang the Car Tag from your rearview mirror, passenger visor or tape the sign to your front windshield.
• Please do not put the Car Tag on the dashboard as it is very hard to see.

We will have a staff member checking cars in on the line to communicate to students to get ready for pick up.  Failure to have a Car Tag will impede this process.

Temporary Late Pick Up

Due to the lack of busing, we have established a temporary “Late Pick Up” to alleviate the hardship this may cause. Once a child’s bus route becomes available, Late Pick Up will not be offered.

• Late Pick Up is available until 4:30 PM with a certified teacher in the library or a classroom.
• When picking up your child, please park and walk up to the front entrance.  We will call your child to the office for dismissal.  
• Be sure to select this dismissal option in Pick Up Patrol.
