Dear Parents and School Community Members,
At last night’s board meeting, I reminded everyone that our region has moved back into the orange, high-activity level on the state’s CALI report. Unfortunately, this means that unvaccinated students who are identified as close contacts must quarantine for 14 days without an option to shorten the period with a negative test. Previously, the quarantine had been 10 days with the option to test out after 7 days.
I also explained that this is a state directive from the NJ Department of Health, and the district does not have discretion to change it. Please note, however, that according to state guidelines, vaccinated students are not required to quarantine.
To address this lengthier quarantine period, we have expanded our instructional support with more synchronous learning opportunities for our students who are directed to quarantine by our health offices. These supports are currently in place, and I want to thank the teachers and principals for moving so quickly to make the necessary adjustments.
Please continue to screen your children each morning and keep them home if they are sick. We appreciate your ongoing support.
Thank you. Have a great weekend.
Vert truly yours,
