Dear Parents and School Community Members,
I am writing to provide an update on our plans for enhancing our instructional model. The good news is that our region is now in the yellow (moderate) zone according to the state’s CALI report. This development allows us to combine cohorts at Valley View with all in-person students attending five days per week on the early dismissal schedule, instead of moving to the full-day hybrid model. We are confident this approach provides a much greater educational benefit for in-person students while balancing screen time for our remote learners.
Currently, we are planning to begin the combined cohorts at Valley View on Monday, May 3, provided our region remains in the yellow zone on the CALI report this week. We are encouraged by the downward trend in case rates.
As for extending the in-person day at Bayberry until 2:15 pm, we are still trying to resolve logistical issues that have arisen with the bus company. I will provide you with an update this week and intend to report on the plan at the board of education meeting this Thursday, April 29 at 7:00 pm.
I also want to let you know that the state has made the 2019-2020 school performance reports available. The reports do not include any student achievement data for 2019-2020 because of the cancellation of the state testing last year.
Thank you for your continued patience and support.
