 Office of the Business Administrator

August 30, 2022

Dear Watchung Families,

As a follow up to the August 26 message, this update provides current information on the status of our efforts to procure student transportation for all routes for the 2022-2023 school year. At this point, we have eight of the thirteen routes covered and are still working on the other five. We have made progress negotiating with several vendors for the remaining routes and are waiting for them to identify drivers for our routes. At this time, we do not anticipate these drivers being available until the middle to end of September at the earliest.

As you may already be aware, bus stop information is currently available in the Genesis Parent Portal. The following buses will not be operating at the opening of school:

Valley View

For students without transportation as of the first day of school, we will be offering early drop off and late pickup at both schools until such time as we are able to secure a bus and driver for those students. Valley View early drop off will begin at 7:00 am, and late pickup will end at 4:00 pm. Bayberry early drop off will begin at 8:00 am, and late pickup will end at 4:30 pm.

Please note that the police will be assisting us with the traffic plan. Look for a message from your child’s principal with specific instructions for dropping off and picking up.

Thank you to those of you who responded to the survey. The feedback was helpful and informative. We appreciate the kind words shared by many respondents. For those who shared concerns about the timing of early drop off and late pickup, if your child is on one of the buses listed above, please reach out to your building principal and we will do our best to resolve the issue on a case-by-case basis.

Again, we apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience.

Richard Pepe
Business Administrator
