Dear Parents and School Community Members,
It is with great sadness that I share the news of Dr. Tom DiGanci’s passing. Dr. DiGanci had deep roots in the Watchung community. He was the Valley View Principal from 1989-1996 and served as the interim Bayberry Principal, just a few short years ago. He is best known, however, for his 33 years at Watchung Hills Regional High School, where he was an extraordinary teacher, coach, and adviser in the 1970s and 80s, a compassionate vice principal in the late 90s, and the beloved WHRHS Principal from 2001 until his retirement in 2012.
Throughout his distinguished 40-year career, he was known for his incredibly positive energy, his kind heart, and his generous spirit. People were his priority, and he gave so selflessly of himself. As one of his many grateful former students, I saw firsthand how he elevated and inspired others. He was a naturally gifted educator and a wonderful human being.
As we mourn Dr. DiGanci’s passing and celebrate his remarkably influential life, please keep his family in your thoughts. Information regarding the arrangements is listed below.
Very truly yours,
George P. Alexis
